Willow Tree
worksheets wanted
We have had a couple of schools enjoying the facilities at Willow Tree and after a meeting with the Head Teachers they informed us they would use Willow Tree more if we could provide work sheets for them.
We do need 3-4 people who would be prepared to do these for us.

Low Level
Challenge Course - Instructor Day
We have 6 vacancies on the Instructors course
on how to use the Low Level Challenge course at Willow Tree.
The date is booked for Saturday 9th February.
This was successfully carried out
– it was great fun and extremely challenging. Ideal for older Guides, Senior Section and Adults! |
Barclays Quiz
fundraiser
The last Quiz held at Willow Tree was great and
it would be MARVELLOUS if each District could get a team together
on Tuesday 13th November (7.30pm). Although the applications have to go direct to Barclays it would be helpful to me if you could let me know whether you have entered a team.
We value your support at Willow Tree and lately we have had to spend quite a bit of money due to the power surge which damaged every electrical appliance.
For Campers you will find we now have three new main wood shelters and the site wood shelters have been re-roofed thanks to Bovis Lend Lease who have been to Willow Tree for two days with 20-30 people,it is great we have such support and appreciate these firms spending their Community Day at Willow Tree carrying out projects which cannot be done by parents. For one person to do this equates to 6 weeks' work.

Chairman of Willow Tree Management.

Bovis Lend
Lease Community Day
20 employees from Bovis Lend Lease spent a full day at Willow Tree in September.
The floors in the Barn Shelters have been re-painted, another BBQ base constructed as well as a base in the compost area.
Treatment to some of the fencing panels was undertaken plus some weeding in the ‘Tranquil Garden’.
Our grateful thanks to them and also to Catherine and her husband Steve who organised the catering which included breakfast, lunch and tea!

|
Funding
Success
We have been successful in obtaining a grant from Hillingdon Youth Services to purchase the additional equipment needed for the Archery Range. These include another left-handed bow and longer arrows and we have made contact with an Instructor – more information at a later date.
We will also be replacing some of the tents on the equipped camping sites and purchasing rope to enable people to do pioneering.

|
|
Vision for
the Future
Planning application has been sent in for two additional buildings.
The drawings are on the Notice Board in the activity room for everyone to see and
make comments or suggestions. We cannot alter the exterior due to planning regulations but we can amend the interior.
Comments have been made that we need more activities and the following have been suggested:
Low rope course with boulder wall, sisal trail (similar to the one at HOAC),
rabbit-run.
If you have any ideas on how we can improve Willow Tree please let
us know. willowtree@girlguiding.middxnw.org.uk

Our
new Chief Guide, Liz Burnley attended the opening and spent the
evening exploring the Centre and grounds, and chatting with girls
and adults on her first trip to Middlesex. She said “The Willow Tree Centre is a testament to all the tremendous work and effort that everyone has put in from guiding and local community. The Tranquil Garden is a very special place in a very special space and its name says a lot about what we all need to-day and will act as an oasis of calm in our busy lives”.

| Also present were
the County and Region Commissioners, and representatives of those
whose donations made the building of the garden possible:
the immediate family of Mary Kinnersley, Pat Coe and Stan Justice
and BAA Heathrow (BAA Colne Valley Environmental Awards) sponsored
the main centrepiece and mature trees, Paradigm Housing funded the
shrubs and Awards for All paid for the paving which will form a walkway with Willow
Arches.
