Become a Leader

Adults undertake wide and diverse roles within Girlguiding UK. The Association provides a number of training opportunities and experiences for adults. There are opportunities to work directly with girls and young women or to carry out any one of a number of support roles.

Whilst men cannot become full members, the Association welcomes their support in roles such as Unit Helper, Adviser, Treasurer and Secretary.
A Unit Guider has certain responsibilities. As part of a team and after appropriate training she is expected to:
• Participate in the Girlguiding UK Leadership Qualification
• Run a regular meeting for the unit, with a balanced and varied programme of activities
• Ensure records of activities are kept
• Ensure financial records for the unit are kept
• Provide a safe environment for the girls and others working with the unit
• Attend meetings at a local level

It sounds like fun, who do I
contact?  Where's my nearest unit?
