Eastcote District Remembrance Service 2020

Traditionally each year, Eastcote district join together with members of other uniformed groups and the community to parade through Eastcote and join a service of remembrance at the war memorial. Unfortunately, an in-person event was not possible in 2020 but Eastcote district still came together for a thoughtful service via Zoom.

Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Leaders from across the district joined together for a morning of that included stories, readings and music to mark the Armistice. Krisha from 7th Eastcote Brownies read a poem she wrote entitled “The Dreadful War Story”. Leaders from the district read the traditional “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae and “We Will Remember Them” before we joined together in a minute’s silence to remember those who gave their lives in service. Amy Gibb played her clarinet for us and members shared the stories of their family’s experiences during different wars.

Later in the day, representatives from each unit laid wreaths at the war memorial in Eastcote. The service was a lovely way to mark Remembrance Day and we hope to be back together next year.
