Ickenham Festive Community Night

On Friday 9th December, Ickenham District came together once again to participate in the annual Ickenham Festive Community Night. The event sees the village come alive with festivities including music, stalls, late night opening of local shops and rides in the street.

Ickenham District Headquarters was full all evening, hosting refreshments, games, stalls and local traders. The chocolate tombola was a particular hit with the children (and maybe some grown ups too!) with the huge chocolate supply barely lasting the evening, and the Christmas hamper raffle proved to be a popular attraction for the adults.

Alongside the festivities in the District Headquarters, the District held a Christmas card competition and a ‘Spot the Elf’ competition with festive elves hidden in shop windows throughout the village. Brownies and Guides showed off their creative talents, joining in the Tree Festival at St Giles Church.

Assistant County Commissioners Marian & Jade were among the crowds at the event, Jade said “It was so lovely to experience the hubbub of the headquarters playing such a big part in the community event. The volunteers and young members did an amazing job in preparing and hosting the event, we can’t wait to come back next year!’.

It was a brilliant evening and a great opportunity for Girlguiding to be at the heart of the community, giving back and promoting opportunities at the same time. Funds raised on the evening will go towards the upkeep of the headquarters.
