7 th Headstone Brownies were so proud when they found out that their Young Leader, Tara, had been awarded the Jack Petchey award and they were very excited to hear she had chosen to use her grant money to help subsidise a trip to Chessington!
On a wonderfully sunny day in October, some of our Brownies, two of our young members who had recently moved up to Guides and our amazing Young Leader headed to Chessington World of Adventures.

The Brownies had an action-packed day, with the Brownies leading where we went, what rides we went on and what animals we saw! All the Brownies got to go on all the rides they wanted to and some even faced their fears and challenged themselves to go on rides they would usually not.
Some favourite rides included Monkey Swinger; the swing chair ride where riders get sprayed by water, Blue Barnacle; a pirate ship ride and Kobra, a ride where riders sit on a big disk facing outwards whilst it rotates and rocks back and forth on a track!
Tara, our Young Leader, made her YL promise in front of her favourite ride, a rollercoaster called Rattlesnake, which she was going to make her promise on as a Guide back in 2020 before the trip got cancelled. It was great she was finally able to be back at Chessington as a Young Leader making her promise!
Overall, it was a great day, we are all so proud of Tara for her achievement, and are thankful to Jack Petchey for helping us offer this outing at a subsidised rate.
