Last month, six Rangers and Young Leaders from the county represented Girlguiding at the YOU London Future Leaders Development Conference.
Below, Tvisha (Ranger and Young Leader from Harrow Town district) tells us about her experience attending the conference.

I recently went to a leadership event for uniformed groups across London at the amazing Harrow School. Over the weekend, we did activities for each organisation and heard some really inspiring talks about how to become better leaders. As a Ranger and Young Leader, I got to meet people from different groups, like Fire, Police, and Army Cadets. It was cool to learn what other cadet groups do and to step out of my comfort zone, making new friends from all over London.

We did loads of activities! My favourite was probably the Police Cadets’ role-play where we searched a house and arrested suspects – it felt so real! With the Army Cadets, we did an activity called “Floor is Lava.” We had to use planks to build a bridge and get our whole team to the other side. It was a mix of fun and tough teamwork, especially with people we didn’t know well. In the St John Ambulance activity, we learned first aid skills, like how to put someone in the recovery position and what to do if someone has an asthma attack. And I’ll never forget the Fire Cadets’ activity – they let us use a real fire hose!

This event was such a great experience, and I’m so grateful to YOU London and all the leaders who made it happen. The skills and memories from that weekend will stay with me forever!
