Middlesex North West Guides try Rugby

On Saturday 21st October, Guides from Ruislip, Northwood and Hayes joined the Ruislip Rubies for an introduction to rugby session.

The day started with a talk about the benefits of playing rugby and exploring the Guides’ knowledge on the sport.

It was then time to head out to the pitches. The weather wasn’t on our side but all of the girls got stuck in and it wasn’t long before the mud became their face paint, creating their game faces.

The Guides practice a variety of drills, with the coaches giving great instructions and encouragement, giving all of the Guides the confidence to get stuck in.

Training ended by playing two mini games allowing the Guides to put their new skills to the test. The Ruislip Rubies ensured all of the Guides got to fully participate in each game, giving them guidance to be in the right place to catch the ball.

The smiles on the Guides’ faces shone through the rain with all participants eager to return.

“Playing rugby is so much fun, I really want to come back” Guide, Northwood District

The group headed inside for some well-deserved pizza and warm drinks before completing the last activity of day, designing the ultimate rugby player.

A big thank you to all of the coaches and players at Ruislip Rugby club who ran a fantastic session for our members.
